random things made: book covers created and photographed for an old digital book project

books – handmade: the beautiful wood boxes

The beautiful wood boxes for the books from 1999-2001 were created in collaboration with (then) Chicago architect Tony B. The only reason I do not give him credit all over this site is that I am honestly afraid that I’ll spell his name incorrectly (and he’s proving elusive to find on the internets to confirm the spelling). We sketched the ideas and picked out the woods together, but the masterful craftsmanship is all his. If anyone reading this knows who I’m talking about, ask him to make you something. But first, please send me the proper spelling of his last name and his contact information; I still owe him a painting.

books – handmade: untitled (the title had something to do with shoes)

This book is made of watercolor paper, musical composition paper, gesso, steel rods, ribbons, bells, thread, silver gelatin prints, wood, and a lot of tea. The box is 6″x9″x4.5″ and the book is 4.5″x4.5″x3″.
